Rural Self Employment Training Institutes (RSETIs)

• Rural Self Employment Training Institutes (RSETIs) established and managed by different Banks are operating with common objectives of identifying, training, motivating & facilitating unemployed youth to take up self-employment. This model has been considered as an effective model for creation of sustainable livelihoods through Self Employment. The State Government in consultation with the banks in SLBC, assigns districts in the States to set up RSETIs preferably to the respective Lead Banks. RSETIs are sponsored by the Banks and hence ownership of RSETIs vests with the sponsoring Bank. RSETIs are conducting 58 NSQF aligned courses and 5 General EDP courses with duration ranging from 10 days to 45 days. These courses are classified under Product, Process, Agriculture & General EDP.
• SBI is managing 152 RSETIs in 26 States and 3 UTs out of 589 functional RSETIs in the country. RSETIs transform unemployed rural youth in the districts into confident self-employed entrepreneurs through need-based training program followed by systematic handholding support and bank linkage.
• Since inception, total 9.46 lakh candidates have been trained through 35377 training programmes. Out of the same 6.81 lakh candidates have settled in their own venture and earning gainful income for their livelihood till end of F.Y. 2021-22. Bank has been achieving its annual training targets over these years.
• As per the directives of MoRD, all the RSETIs in the country are graded every year as on 31st March based on the performance of the RSETIs during the financial year. This exercise is undertaken to assess the health of the RSETIs and to bring about improvements in their functioning. Out of 152 RSETIs managed by SBI, 151 RSETIs have been graded as outstanding during 2020-21 as against 142 during 2019-20 and 134 during 2018-19. Further, 53 RSETIs have secured 200/200 during 2020-21 as against 21 during 2019-20 and 4 during 2018-19.

• SBI has been adjudged as the Best Performing Bank in implementation of RSETI during 2018-19 in the Country. The award was conferred to the Bank by MoRD in a ceremony held on 19/12/2019.
• During the visit of his excellency Sri Ram Nath Kovind, Hon’ble President of India to the National Institute of Bank Management (NIBM), Pune for the Golden Jubilee Celebration on 12/02/2020, inspected SBI RSETI Stall and appreciated the endeavour of SBI in RSETI movement. RBI Governor, our Chairman and other dignitaries were also present on the occasion.
• Any rural youth aspiring to be self-employed can enrol free of cost for any of 58 skill development programmes offered by these RSETIs. Candidates can contact the RSETIs or nearby branches of SBI for availing the training facilities in RSETIs.
